The traditional fidelity to the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts, and the transmission of the introductions and notes of the French version have been maintained.
We indicate next the most important novelties of this fourth edition:
- The same team of specialists has been maintained as in the third edition and the fundamental values of their translations of the original languages: interior unity of the different biblical writings of the Old and New Covenant, reflection of the rhythm of the Hebrew verse in the lyric and attention special to parallel places, especially in the Synoptic Gospels.
- All the books of the Old and New Testaments have been literarily revised by the current general coordinator Víctor Morla: with accommodation to the Spanish of the Hebrew clichés, improvement in the harmonization of texts and polishing of the style.
- The historical, geographical and archaeological notes have been updated, with the introduction of some new ones, by Joaquín González Echegaray.
- The translation of some changes in the notes of the last French edition of the BIBLE OF JERUSALEM has been incorporated: some have been deleted because they are obsolete, while others of a cultural and historical-geographical nature have been incorporated.
This new edition benefits from the studies and research of the Biblical and Archaeological School of Jerusalem and the exegetes that make up the new team of translators of the Jerusalem Bible in Spanish, remaining true to the principles of previous editions while assuming a complete update of the biblical research of recent years.
The sacred texts of yesterday in the light of today's science.
It is not just a BIBLE; it is the BIBLE within everyone's reach.
