Case Of Galileo And The Church
$18.95Add to cartDid the Church really martyr Galileo?
Throughout the modern era, Galileo Galilei has been presented as a victim of cruel torture of conscience, theological narrow-mindedness, and ecclesiastical harassment typical of a dark, closed-minded Church. Frequently portrayed as such in theaters due to prevailing political ideologies, the story of Galileo points to the long-held tension between “science and faith,” “technology and ethics,” and “progress and the Church.”
The story of the real Galileo, however, which has not been told-until now-is sure to rock the established narrative.
Walter Cardinal Brandmuller, an eminent Church historian and expert in Galilean research, evaluates the scientific research of the recent past and exposes shocking historical errors. Uninterested in whitewashing the problematic pages of Church history, he offers a balanced view of the controversy, illuminating it through the lens of a deeper historical understanding.
Leaving no stone unturned, His Excellency separates the facts from the fiction to reveal:
*Why the Inquisition became involved in Galileo’s “case” and what it really determined
*Galileo’s multifaceted accomplishments, personality, and relationships
*What famous critics, including Aristotelians, had to say about Galileo and his findings
*How Galileo’s case embodied the scientific revolution and its view of the Church
*Whether Scripture and science should be understood separately
*How to perceive Galileo within the broader cultural and historical context of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuriesYou will discover the various aspects and philosophical views of the Galileo controversy, including how his personal polemics at times superseded his scientific research. Moreover, you will learn about significant scientists’ and theologians’ arguments regarding heliocentrism and other topics.
The book includes an extensive bibliography of Galileo’s works and a timeline of his life, as well as a declaration from twelve Nobel Prize-winning scientists on the necessity of dialogue between science and religion and the need for the Church’s guidance.

Theology And Catholic Higher Education
$30.00Add to cart“Our problem in Catholic higher education is bigger than the collapse of ecclesial credibility, bigger than the behavior of the bishops, bigger than the waning interest in theological studies, and bigger than politics.” Massimo Faggioli
Many Catholic universities in the United States have put their Catholic mission at risk by either ceding to secular neoliberal values or by doubling down on reactionary Catholic tribalism. Student enrollment declines as some schools market themselves no differently than secular colleges. Other, conversely, neo-traditionalist Catholic colleges ally themselves with regressive elements of the Church. Both trends, Faggioli says, reflect a dismantling of Vatican II’s vision for Catholic education.
Scrutinizing this crisis in detail, Massimo Faggioli reviews the snowballing changes in Catholic higher education, advocating for a renewed incarnational and sacramental Catholic educational philosophy that rejects accommodation to secular technocracy as well as Catholic tribalism in order to embody the inclusive, socially conscious values of the Catholic tradition as expressed in the theology of Vatican II.

Dorothy Day : Spiritual Writings – Selected With An Introduction By Robert
$24.00Add to cart“It is no use to say that we are born two thousand years too late to give room to Christ. Nor will those who live at the end of the world have been born too late. Christ is always with us, always asking for room in our hearts.”
Dorothy Day (1897-1980), co-founder of the Catholic Worker movement, has recently been proposed for canonization. Through her houses of hospitality, the practice of the works of mercy, and her prophetic work for peace and justice, she offered a radical witness to the gospel in action. But it was as much in her everyday life as in her public activities that she expressed her spirituality and found her path to holiness. This anthology explores the key themes that underlay Day’s spirituality. These begin with the call to see Christ in our neighbors, and the teaching that what we do for the poor, we do directly for him. Day’s spirituality was deeply influenced by St. Therese of Lisieux and her “Little Way” that showed the path to holiness in the daily exercise of patience, charity, and forgiveness. Dorothy extended this principle to the social dimension–the significance of all the little protests we make or fail to make. She frequently cited the “practice of the presence of God” and the “duty of delight”–the challenge to put love where there is none. She herself summed up her mission as a response to “the greatest challenge of the day” “How to bring about a revolution of the heart, a revolution which has to start with each one of us?”

Intensive Caring : A Practical Handbook For Catholics About Serious Illness
$18.95Add to cartWhen a serious illness or a health crisis occurs, few people are prepared to deal with it, and when faced with big medical decisions, patients often are confused and overwhelmed, and they are sometimes too sick to make important decisions. Many times, decisions fall to family and loved ones who don’t always know the patient’s wishes. Intensive Caring: A Practical Handbook for Catholics about Serious Illness and End-of-Life Care is the perfect resource to help everyone involved navigate the complexities of healthcare during serious illness and end-of-life care.
In Intensive Caring, Dr. Natalie King, a palliative care physician, shares real-life patient stories and provides practical medical information to bring clarity and understanding to these complex healthcare decisions. In this easy-to-navigate guide, King helps you and your loved ones think through the issues at hand and align your decisions with your values and faith while safeguarding the sacred dignity of human life.
By clearly explaining Catholic beliefs and guidelines and debunking common misconceptions about healthcare, King addresses the most common questions she receives as a medical professional, such as these:
*What is palliative care, and how is it different from hospice?
*If I am diagnosed with a serious illness, what kinds of questions should I ask my doctor?
*How do I approach thinking about which healthcare options are best for me, and how do I communicate my preferences to my family?
*What are advance directives, why do they matter, and what is important to include as a Catholic?
*What is a “DNR,” and how should I understand and choose my options around resuscitation?
*What does the Catholic Church say about artificial nutrition and hydration?
*How do I advocate for my loved one’s dignity nearing the end of their life?
King also outlines what she sees as the characteristics of a good death, offers tips on advocating for your needs and values, provides spiritual encouragement, and includes prayers for patients, parish communities, and caregivers.
Most especially, King encourages you to have these healthcare conversations now, when you are healthy. Now is the time to communicate your preferences and desires to your loved ones. This will ease the stress, guilt, and worry when faced with end-of-life issues for you and your family.
Intensive Caring extends beyond the realm of Catholic laity, encompassing clergy, pastoral workers, and healthcare professio

Saints Pray For You
$18.95Add to cartWhen you think of saints, what image comes to mind? Maybe halos and angel wings, or maybe a football team from Louisiana. Or maybe you think of one of the most difficult stumbling blocks that Catholic belief presents for Protestants: the doctrine of the communion and intercession of the saints. Why do Catholics pray to dead people? How can we expect those same people to pray for us . . . and why would they want to? What about bowing to relics and statues? And where is all this in the Bible? Doesn’t it say that we’re all saints? These questions and others can keep other Christians at arm’s length from Catholicism-or worse, force them to conclude that Catholics have hopelessly mixed up true biblical religion with superstition and remnants of paganism. But in The Saints Pray for You, Karlo Broussard brings the answers, backed up with the Bible. He shows how the communion of saints is not a medieval fantasy, and their intercession is not a joke the Church plays on us. Appealing to the witness of Scripture and the practice of the early Church, while neutralizing the misguided prooftexts that Protestants deploy, Karlo convincingly defends the ancient Christian belief that the saints are our family in heaven and our prayerful allies in the work of our salvation.

Real Discipleship : How To Follow Jesus His Way – Not Ours
$18.95Add to cartDiscipleship?? Isn’t that a Protestant thing? If you think that, you’re not alone. The concept of Christian discipleship gets stressed so much in Evangelical culture that many Catholics assume that-like “altar calls” or the “Rapture”-it’s not their concern. Or maybe you’re more familiar with a form of “discipleship” that stresses personal fulfillment, moral and doctrinal flexibility, and an individualist gospel that measures success by worldly standards. This idea has roots in Protestant “health & wealth” preaching, but you can find it in Catholic churches, too. Both of those notions are dead wrong, says Fr. Jeffrey Kirby. In his new book Real Discipleship, the author of the bestselling Real Religion says that discipleship should be the central concern of every Catholic-and that far from being all about us and our earthly needs, true discipleship is about following Jesus diligently on the path to the Cross. The temptations to false discipleship are all around us, but Fr. Kirby helps you navigate the straight road by distinguishing truth from falsehood in four areas: the person of Jesus, the example and teachings of his gospel, the way of living to which that gospel calls us, and the summit of that way of life in true eucharistic worship. A lively mix of personal stories, theology, history, Bible study, common sense, and prayerful meditation, Real Discipleship will be a valuable companion on your own journey along Christ’s path-all the way to Calvary and to eternal glory.

Celestial Web : Buddhism And Christianity – A Different Comparison
$55.00Add to cartA leading scholar of religion applies a new method of interfaith understanding to Buddhist-Christian comparative theology providing rich new insights for students and scholars alike.
In his ground-breaking Gifford Lectures, published as Religious Pluralism & Interreligious Dialogue, Perry Schmidt-Leukel introduced his “fractal” theory of religions, challenging the tendency to distinguish religious traditions as discrete entities without acknowledging the wide variety within them, varieties essentially reproduced in different religious traditions.
After offering an introduction to this new methodology to comparative religion, Schmidt-Leukel, in The Celestial Web, applies this method to a comparison between Buddhism and Christianity. Some of the points of comparison include their respective approaches to the world, ultimate reality, the “dark side” of human existence, and salvation/liberation in terms of the figures mediating it.
Stereotypical approaches often treat these traditions as opposites, for instance, positing that Buddhism embraces an impersonal absolute, whereas Christianity affirms the primacy of one’s relationship with a personal God. Yet the fractal approach, which examines “intra-religious” varieties within the two traditions, reveals surprising points of congruence.

Green Saints For A Green Generation
$30.00Add to cartYoung scientists, sisters, and theologians of the “green generation” reflect on “saints” canonized and not who offer hope and inspire us towards ecological action.
“In the community of saints, all together are companions in memory and hope. Together, all together, they are becoming something strange and growing and great, instruments of change. Green Saints for a Green Generation taps beautifully into this dynamic for the sake of our suffering Earth, which cries out for no less.” From the Foreword by Elizabeth A. Johnson, CSJ
In Laudato Si’ Pope Francis established care for creation as one of the central themes of Catholic social teaching. Yet that ecological consciousness has yet to take root en masse among the Catholic faithful. In Green Saints for a Green Generation young Catholic women on “saints” canonized and not who connected their faith to concern for the earth.
The writers include a wide range of figures, from the traditional, such as Sts. Clare of Assisi, Ignatius of Loyola, and Marguerite Bourgeoys, to contemporary figures like Thomas Merton, author Toni Morrison, and the Martyrs of the Amazon. By connecting these key figures to environmental responsibility, the contributors encourage the not-yet informed to become active, inviting younger generations to join the ecological movement, to take taking on the responsibility from their elders, and to shoulder the ecological burden for themselves.

For My People 40th Anniversary Edition
$35.00Add to cart“Unless we look honestly at our past, it is unlikely that we shall know what to do in the present for the shaping a creative Black future. “-James H. Cone
Originally published in 1984, James Cone’s For My People remains an important landmark in the development of Black Theology. While tracing the origins of the movement, its relation to the Black Church, its engagement with other liberation theologies from the Global South, and the emergence of Womanist theology, he also offered telling reflections on the path ahead.
Assessing this work, the great scholar C. Eric Lincoln observed: “For My People spares neither kith nor kin, but addresses itself to the whole range of factors in North American religion that make for the traditional black church/white church dichotomy, and the spiritual and social consequences that attend it. For My People is a strong commentary on both the role and the vitality of black theology, as well as on the pervasiveness of the problems that sustain the need for it.”
In a new foreword, Josiah Young, who finished his PhD with Cone at Union Theological Seminary and now teaches at Wesleyan Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, reflects on the significance of this work within the corpus of Cone’s writing, and assesses the ongoing relevance of this work for the life of the Black Church, the ongoing project of Black and Womanist Theology, and the liberating application of the Gospel to our world today.

Stronger Than Evil
$17.95Add to cartThere is no doubt that evil exists and that the devil’s potency has increased in our modern culture of death. The rise in demonic afflictions — from harassment and obsession to oppression and possession — is an alarming testament to the reign of the prince of this world.
For decades, Vatican exorcist Fr. Gabriele Amorth has been the leading voice on the demonic, spiritual warfare, and spiritual protection. Even after his death, newly published writings from his extensive archives remain as relevant as ever in our fallen world.
In this fresh work, Fr. Amorth conveys a hopeful message about the supreme power of God over Satan and his minions. Stronger Than Evil draws from Fr. Amorth’s exorcism ministry, affirming that the power over demons lies in Jesus Christ Himself.
Fr. Amorth highlights some of the most powerful experiences in his deliverance ministry, giving concrete examples of divine intervention in desperate cases. He reveals:
*The key differences between mental illness and demonic influence
*How serious sin opens the door to demonic attack
*Whether curses or evil spells are real, and what can be done about them
*Why Satan is behind the pro-choice movement and the scourge of abortion
*Evidence of the diabolical in modern music
*The dangers and temptations of modern technologyWhile recognizing the real threat of the diabolical, especially in a society that has rejected God, Fr. Amorth does not fall into the pit of despair. He leaves readers with a hopeful message: that grace is the “decisive defense” against our spiritual enemy. Here, Fr. Amorth personally testifies to the miraculous intervention of the saints, Our Lady, and the Holy Trinity in spiritual warfare, assuring readers that God is always in control. God keeps His promise to deliver us from evil.

What Attracts Men To The Sacred Liturgy And Why
$14.95Add to cartIn this timely book, acclaimed radio host and author Jesse Romero teaches men how the traditional liturgy equips them to put on the armor of Christ and fight the daily spiritual battle for souls.
Drawing from his background in law enforcement and spiritual warfare, Romero outlines why the traditional Latin Mass spoke to him in such a powerful way and transformed his spiritual life. He describes how the implementation of the new Mass — with its emotionalism and horizontal focus — led men in particular to lose the zeal of the saints, and how the manner in which they worship God is central to restoring that fervor.
Romero breaks down exactly why men find their “natural and supernatural home on this earth” at the traditional Mass. He highlights:
*The sacrificial nature of the TLM, and how the actions of the Mass express each step of the Passion
*The liturgy’s appeal to intellect over emotion
*The power of silence in embracing mystery and instilling reverence
*How the TLM is Christo-centric rather anthropocentric, and why this is the proper orientation toward the divine
Romero includes select essays from priests on the efficacy of traditional prayers, and firsthand testimonies from powerful Catholic men of today, including NFL kicker Harrison Butker, UFC Hall of Famer Bas Rutten, and Navy SEAL Charlie Aeschliman, who have found solace and purpose in the traditional liturgy.
As contributor Kyle Clement, a rancher, husband, and father puts it, “Part of the masculine disposition is a desire for ritual and fraternity — ritual meaning order. The Holy Roman Mass in the Tridentine form is ordered, and it is order that lifts the soul toward Heaven.”
In the midst of a culture that distorts authentic masculinity and femininity, the timeless teachings of the Catholic Church, as expressed through her traditional liturgy, stand steadfastly in the fray.
What Attracts Men to the Sacred Liturgy — and Why gives men insight into how the liturgy is the wellspring of their vocations, the source of their strength, and the fullest expression of the truth worth dying for.

Praying With The Church Through Advent
$18.95Add to cartAt the beginning of every Mass, the priest-celebrant says, “Let us pray” and then offers a prayer to God the Father, through Jesus Christ, in union with the Holy Spirit. This Opening Prayer is called the Collect. During Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter, this prayer is specific to the day; in the season of Ordinary Time, the Collect for each Sunday is repeated during the following weekday Masses.
In Praying with the Church through Advent, Fr. Edward Looney offers a short daily meditation and reflection questions on that day’s Collect to help you better appreciate the richness of these liturgical texts and apply them to your life. Journaling pages are included to aid you in your Advent journey so that you may more fruitfully contemplate the liturgy and incorporate the spiritual lessons it offers.

Desist Detrans And Detox
$21.95Add to cartIn this actionable analysis of one of the most damaging movements of the modern age, renowned author Maria Keffler makes a compelling case that what lies at the core of the transgender phenomenon is a crisis of identity, and that only a loving but firm reality check can staunch the hysteria.
Keffler makes unassailable arguments: Maleness and femaleness are immutable biological facts. Masculinity and femininity are personality constructs, conditioned by societal norms.
But “gender,” the term favored by activists, has no solid definition. The language introduced by gender ideology is entirely subjective, which allows emotions to redefine reality. The very premise of the ideology is flawed and requires mental gymnastics of its adherents.
Keffler outlines the disturbing parallels between cults and gender ideology: recruitment tactics that prey upon insecurities, indoctrination in nonsensical beliefs that must never be questioned, requirements to shun nonbelievers, and in-group newspeak which cultivates a sense of belonging.
She exposes the cult of gender ideology with journalistic detail, digging into aspects the mainstream media chooses to ignore. She investigates:
*The origins of modern gender ideology in the 1960s
*How the obsession to “affirm” gender identity leads to medical negligence in overlooking mental health issues
*The role of bullying and peer pressure in the gender cult
*The rapidly growing community of detransitioners and their insightful firsthand testimonies
Keffler also provides a manual for parenting children during the time they are most vulnerable to predatory gender activism. She instructs parents in navigating this brave new world, including discerning fact from fiction, setting boundaries regarding names and pronouns, how to find a trustworthy therapist, and how to determine what vulnerabilities led the child to the gender cult in the first place.
The book includes an abundance of resources for parents whose children are currently in the throes of or recovering from gender dysphoria. Central to her approach is unconditional love and forgiveness, with a focus on moving forward together.
Packed with statistical data, reasoned arguments, and practical advice, Desist, Detrans, and Detox equips readers to prevent, work through, and heal from the “medical scandal of the 21st century.”

A place where no one is ever hungry, afraid, or alone. A golden land of beauty, laughter, and joy.
Could there really be such a place?
This is the question our protagonist, a little lamb, asks when a mysterious kindly Shepherd appears, promising eternal happiness in a world to come.
Yes, our home is indeed a paradise, and the Father has prepared a place for each of us.
As the lamb grapples with this joyous revelation, he learns to ignore the scoffing of worldly leaders, who boast of their own plans and claim that Heaven is a myth. The lamb believes the Shepherd and is determined to find the way to this wonderful place.
The way is simple. The Shepherd tells him: “I am the Way.” And the lamb eagerly follows Him. But while simple, the way is not easy. The lamb faces many obstacles on the path to happiness, including his own weakness and temptations. As his memory of the Good Shepherd fades, will he overcome the allure of the world to follow the true path once again?
With whimsical storytelling and colorful imagery, this picture book gently introduces children to the challenge all Christians face during their lives. Parents and children alike will ask whether they have the courage to follow Jesus when the path before them becomes steep and rocky.
Inspired by the parable of the Good Shepherd, who goes into the wilderness to rescue the sheep that strays, this tale of faith and forgiveness is sure to inspire greater love and devotion for the kindly Shepherd, who is always ready to find us and lead us home.

Christmas Book : The History, Traditions, And Customs Of Everyone’s Favorit
$17.95Add to cartNothing warms the heart like Christmastime. All of us have precious memories of yuletide cheer, from the excitement of anticipation to the frenzy of preparations to the heartfelt family moments.
Buoyed by the “contagious joy” of Christmas among his congregations in Buffalo and Boston, Fr. Francis X. Weiser compiled a treasure trove of Christmas lore to enrich holiday celebrations for generations to come. Fr. Weiser, who was born in Austria and emigrated to the United States, had long been fascinated by American Christmas culture, which he saw as a consolidation of all the most beloved traditions from the nation’s diverse immigrant communities.
He relied on interviews with parishioners, once-lost documents, and well-known material culture to get to the root of such cherished customs as Nativity plays, gift giving, and Christmas caroling.
In addition to exploring the cultural origins of beloved Christmas traditions, Fr. Weiser reveals their spiritual significance and explains their symbolism, including:
*Why the first Christmas Mass is at midnight
*The beginnings of Christmas caroling and the stories behind beloved carols
*How Christmas lights represent Christ, the Light of the World
*The true Christian origin of the Christmas tree, and the connection between the evergreen and eternal life
*How various cultures honor St. Nicholas
*How pre-Christian traditions gained new significance in light of the Incarnation
Fr. Weiser considered holiday celebrations at home a “radiation of the liturgy,” a beautiful opportunity to cultivate the domestic church in family life.
Packed with historical and liturgical references, literary excerpts, and charming anecdotes, this book will become a family favorite that’s revisited year after year in homes that welcome it.
Join Fr. Weiser as he embarks on a tour of the jubilant celebrations that manifests the sublimity of the Incarnation in the American melting pot, from sea to shining sea.

Midwinter God : Encountering The Divine In Seasons Of Darkness
$18.95Add to cart“I believe we all carry grief that has gone unnamed and unmourned,” writes best-selling author Christine Valters Paintner. “Nothing in our culture prepares us to deal with darkness and grief. We are told to cheer up and move on, to shop or drink our way to forgetting the pain we carry. Yet I believe that being faithful to our own dark moments is the path of true prayer.” In her book, A Midwinter God: Encountering the Divine in Seasons of Darkness, Paintner offers an invitation to enter the wisdom of holy darkness and to find there a path toward hope and spiritual maturity.
Paintner has experienced multiple journeys through grief that have brought her face-to-face with what she calls the “midwinter God”–the seeming absence of the God of life in dark and fallow seasons of loss. She has learned to confront her own terror in that darkness and to approach it with curiosity to see what it has to teach her. This endeavor has illuminated a path for her to embrace a life of profound depth, one that honors both the trials of suffering and the richness of joy.
With her characteristic integrative and creative practices, Paintner, abbess of the online Abbey of the Arts, guides her readers to view darkness as a place where seeds of holiness begin to germinate. Each chapter of this book unfolds as an invitation to grow in understanding of holy darkness and also meditate, reflect, and create with these elements:
*Paintner’s reflections on various themes of loss and acceptance
*Insights on a scripture passage written by Paintner’s husband, John
*A guided meditation to bring the teachings into your heart
*Prompts for an expressive arts practice to process these insights through creativity
*Reflection questions to integrate what you have experienced
*Writing samples from people who have worked through this material in an online retreatAutumn and winter are vital to the health of nature and to our own bodies. It is a time of releasing and letting go–a season that invites us to slow down, to welcome the growing darkness, and to grow stiller and quieter. Darkness can be an uncomfortable and uneasy place, but it is also a place of profound incubation and gestation, a source of tremendous and hard-wrought wisdom. With Paintner as our guide, we can encounter this midwinter God with vulnerable courage that leads us to hope-filled wholeness.

Let Us Begin
$18.95Add to cartIt’s no secret we live in a time of confusion, scandal, and chaos. Our response is often despair, hopelessness, or uncertainty of what to do next. The world, however, needs to be repaired; what is broken needs to be rebuilt. Jesus famously asked Saint Francis of Assisi to rebuild his Church. Today, so many Catholics want their lives, families, nation, and Church repaired as well.
Let Us Begin highlights the unmatched witness of Francis on how to repair the brokenness of the human heart as well as to restore a world in need of renewal. As Francis realized more than 800 years ago, personal conversion is the key to renewing our Church and our culture.
Francis accepted God’s invitation to let Christ change his life, and thus he began to live as Christ. He labored to repair what was broken, but he accomplished this tremendous rebuild by being enamored with Christ. Renewal in our age will follow the same path: When we are made into Christ, we change the world.

Stigmatists : Their Gifts, Their Revelations, Their Warnings
$29.95Add to cartThere have been very few books that offer a serious, reliable, thoughtful look at stigmatists, and specifically, what I call visionary stigmatists. Interestingly, almost all Church-approved stigmatists have been just that: visionaries as well as stigmatists. This book focuses on Church-approved stigmatists and their visions, revelations, and prophecies and warnings. In some cases, the prophecies and warnings relate to the End Times and Second Coming of Christ. That includes the striking revelations of the likes of Saint Faustina (1905-38), the first canonized saint of the new millennium. One might rightly interpret the mark of the stigmata (sometimes invisible stigmata, as in the cases of Saints Faustina and Catherine of Siena) as a heavenly/Church affirmation of these saints’ authenticity, likewise adding a certain authenticity to their claimed visions.
It is interesting that many people, including Protestants and even non-Christians, are intrigued by stigmata. It seems that nearly everyone finds claims of stigmata fascinating; there doesn’t seem to be a lot of scoffers. Anytime the notion of stigmata is raised, including by Hollywood (albeit sensationally), eyes are wide open.
This book opens with a comprehensive overview of the phenomenon of stigmata, beginning with the words of St. Paul that some believe might be the first recorded case of stigmata. Aside from St. Paul, Saint Francis (1182-1226) is believed to be the first stigmatist. The opening chapter looks at the data and cases that we know of. Thereafter, the book provides individual chapters focused on figures from Catherine of Siena to Anne Catherine Emmerich, Gemma Galgani, Padre Pio, and more, finishing with Saint Faustina.
Notably, not all of these stigmatic saints had visions of the Final Days. They need not to have changed history. Some of the special visions were along the lines of St. Francis’s transformational conversations with Jesus at the San Damiano cross, which nonetheless had a significant larger purpose: “Francesco,” said Jesus, “ripara la mia Chiesa.” (“Francis, repair my Church.”)
Francis did just that. That was a historic moment for the Church and the faith. Unlike the likes of Martin Luther, Francis endeavored upon a genuine reformation.
These stigmatists and their revelations have spoken to us in profound ways from the time of Christ to the Middle Ages to literally the end times. Truly, there is no more crucial time than now to take a prayerful look at what th

Contemporary Catholic Poetry
$35.00Add to cartFeaturing 23 contemporary Catholic poets, from Julia Alvarez and Carolyn Forche to Timothy Murphy and Franz Wright, this anthology is an essential collection that captures the spectrum of the Catholic experience.
Editors Ryan Wilson and April Lindner have collected the work of Catholic poets born in 1950 and afterward. Featuring diverse styles, aesthetics, and forms, this selection demonstrates “the myriad ways the Church has left its mark on the imaginations of these notable contemporary poets.” A treasury of vibrant beauty–this collection explores the personal, practical, and political, of faith, nature, life, and lament–a welcome gift to all lovers of poetry and language.
“Poems represent the world and the people who inhabit it: they introduce us to plants, animals, human characters, and highly specific places. They show us striking images that may be familiar to us or entirely eldritch, tell us about experiences that might be akin to our own or quite different from our own. They delight us, seduce us, inspire us, instruct us, mock us, condemn us, console us, and mourn us. They challenge us, protest against us, and, sometimes, they baffle us. They celebrate the glories of the created world and its people, and they commemorate momentous occasions; they also curse the cruelty and the horror of the world and its people, and they lament catastrophes. They imagine other people’s lives and other worlds. They invoke deities and absences. They also speak intimately of heartfelt truths, describe local haunts, and address ordinary people directly. They meditate on living, on dying, and on the passage of time. They tell us stories, they tell us lies, and they tell us stories that reveal the truth through lying, to paraphrase the great painter Pablo Picasso. They enchant us with beauty and appall us with terror. Above all, poems remember. Each poem is, on a fundamental level, an act of remembrance, a kind of handprint pressed against the wall of Time.”–from the Preface of Contemporary Catholic Poetry
